Ingrown Toenail

Plantar warts

A plantar wart is a wart occurring on the bottom of the foot or toes. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).  A break in the skin is required for infection to occur. Risk factors include use of communal showers, having had prior warts, and poor immune function. Diagnosis is typically based on symptoms.

Treatment is only needed if it is causing symptoms. This may include salicylic acid or surgical removal. 

Paronychia
 Paronychia is a nail infection due to bacterial or fungus of the hand or foot, where the nail and skin meet at the side or the base of a finger or toenail.  Can lead to pain, swelling and redness.
Treatment involves – Antibiotics, pain medication and if required drainage of the pus  under local anesthesia.
